Child-Centered Therapeutic Approaches for Children Exposed to Domestic Violence

Content Areas: On this episode, we are discussing how structured, supportive environments can help children feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and emotions. We will explore how safe spaces, games, and art therapy can help children express feelings they may not yet have the words to explain. We will also discuss the value of recognizing nonverbal expression, especially with younger children, and the importance of helping children identify, understand, and label their emotions. In addition, we will look at how therapeutic groups can tailor activities by age and developmental level while helping children recognize that they are not alone. Finally, we will consider how resilience building can strengthen confidence, communication, and a sense of security over time.
