(Camp Hill, PA) – April 10, 2018 – Runners and walkers get ready for the 14thAnnual Randi’s Race: A 5K Run/Walk for Hope and Courage honoring 28-year-old Randi Lee Trimble, Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 9:00 a.m., Adams Ricci Community Park, 100 East Penn Drive in Enola, Cumberland County, PA.

Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. with a minimum donation of $25. The race is officially timed, and medals are awarded for first and second-place runners in numerous age groups. Pre-registration is available until May 6, 2018 on the Randi’s House of Angels website.

To date, Randi’s Race has raised more than $388,000 to support programs and services offered through Randi’s House of Angels for children who are exposed to and/or are victims of domestic violence. Funds raised support children attending Randi’s KIDz Club, a twelve-week therapeutic group to help traumatized children, and Randi’s Camp, a three-day interactive summer camp for children. Lastly, a portion of the funds raised from Randi’s race has been donated to support fourlocal domesticviolence programs and other community agencies.

“Randi’s Race provides me the opportunity to reach the community in creating awareness of how domestic violence impacts children,” said Nancy Chavez, Chairwoman of Randi’s House of Angels and Randi Trimble’s mother. “It is my hope that the community will recognize that domestic violence affects children in so many ways and Randi’s House of Angels can provide therapeutic services/programs to children to help them lead a stress-free life,” she added.

Since her daughter’s death in January 2003, Nancy has been an advocate for victims of domestic violence.  In 2011, she established Randi’s House of Angels, a project of the Foundation for Enhancing Communities (fiscal sponsor) that fulfills her dream of helping children who are exposed to and are victims of domestic violence.

Retired Pennsylvania State Senator Pat Vance, advocate for victims of domestic violence, is honorary chair of the event.

Randi’s Race: A 5K Run/Walk for Hope and Courage is a community event designed to create awareness and raise funds for victims of domestic violence. Team participation is encouraged. Just before race time, Randi’s Kids Fun Run is held for children under 8. Refreshments, entertainment and door prizes are also offered. Donations will be accepted up to June 30, 2018.
