Content Areas: Today, we are discussing common misconceptions about domestic violence, including the belief that abuse is always male-on-female, while examining the prevalence of male victimization. We will look at the similarities and differences across abusive relationships, including emotional, psychological, physical, and financial abuse perpetrated by women. We will also discuss how male victims may experience shame, fear of disbelief, and social stigma, as well as the barriers they may face when reporting abuse and navigating the legal system. Finally, we will identify resources and support systems available to male victims of domestic violence.
