My name is Ashley Hill and I had the great honor of attending the race this past weekend. As it was emotional for everyone there; I wanted to give a little insite as to why this was so meaningful for me. The strength that Nancy shows is something I can only hope one day to have. I believe everyone in attenance has (in some way) been affected by domestic violence.
In 2016 I was a property manager in Perry County. During an eviction proceeding; I witnessed the homicide of Ciara Meyer; her father was charged with her murder and thankfully will be in prison the rest of his life.
As a child, it was witnessed very often in my home – as an adult; I followed everything I saw as a child and became a victim myself….. It has taken years to move forward – and Saturday was a kind reminder that there can be joy AND grief. Nancy has found a way to make something extremely positive out of the most heart breaking of situations.
My love to you all! It was an amazing day, and I hope to get more involved in the helping of healing little hearts crushed by domestic violence.
